Datolan

Product Information

Datolan Sleeping Tablets

Datolan is being advertised as a trade name for Zopiclone. It is another form of a hypnotic drug or sedative which is being prescribed as a short-term treatment for those who are having difficulty in getting or maintaining sleep.

Other than its generic drug, Datolan is said to have lactose, wheat starch, calcium hydrogen phosphate and other components good for the human body. However catchy these advertisements may be, it would still best to consult your doctor before you buy or use Datolan.

Datolan works more like a tranquilizer which slows down brain activities to help a patient attain sleep. This is very common to any other drug used for the same purpose which simply means, they also have the same side effects.

Datolan Side Effects

Side effects like drowsiness, headache, coated tongue, dizziness, vomiting, etc is common to all forms and types of drugs depending on the patient’s resistance. These are also common to Datolan.

But there are more serious side effects that a patient must think about before using this drug. If the patient is an alcohol-dependent, he must know that alcohol, when taken with Datolan increases the side effects. So if he is drowsy, it could be at an increase level to the point that it may also increase the possibility of him getting impaired balance or vehicular or any machinery involving accidents.

If a patient is also sick and is taking other medications, he will have to check with his doctor if he is allowed to take it with Datolan.

Datolan also causes hallucinations, impaired balance and thinking and temporary amnesia.  As with amnesia, it is usually not a problem because by the time it happens, the patient is expected to have fallen asleep already. The problem arises when the patient is not able to commit seven to eight hours of sleep. He may still be under the side effects of Datolan by the time he wakes up and does his usual routine. When the side effects are gone, he will not be able to remember anything at all.

After taking Datolan a patient may also suffer from rebound amnesia or a worsened sleeping condition a few nights after he stops using it.

Taking the Right Dosage

Like any other sleeping tablets, it is very important that a patient strictly follows his doctor’s prescription when taking Datolan. Both a prolonged use and an overdose of the drug can be very risky.

Datolan should not be taken any longer than prescribed as it can lead to drug dependence. An overdose of Datolan can also lead to either coma or fatality.

Datolan is usually given at 7.5 mg 15 to 20 minutes before going to bed and it should not be exceeded. The dose may be lowered to 3.75 mg depending on the patient’s response and tolerance to the drug.

Datolan is strictly for adults only as it is not proven safe for people lower than 18 years of age. A patient should strictly follow his doctor’s instructions on how to take Datolan properly.
